This NEPM ensures that controlled wastes that are to be moved between States and Territories are properly identified, transported, and handled in ways that are consistent with environmentally sound practices.
The NEPM provides a national framework for developing and integrating State and Territory systems for the management of the movement of controlled wastes between States and Territories. These management systems include:
In 2010 the NEPC made a Minor Variation to the NEPM to provide greater clarity, remove unneccessary regulatory burden and remove clauses that are no longer required.
