For current information about the Diesel Vehicle Emissions NEPM see:
Motor vehicles, particularly those with diesel engines, are significantly disproportionate contributors of fine particle pollution and oxides of nitrogen. The National Environment Protection (Diesel Vehicle Emissions) Measure has been developed to complement other measures to reduce the impact of emissions from diesel vehicles such as: new vehicle emission standards, improved fuel quality and travel demand management.
In May 2009 the NEPC made a minor variation to the NEPM to incorporate developments in diesel vehicle emissions technologies and experience gained in implmenting the NEPM.
The NEPC commissioned a number of preparatory projects to inform the development of the Diesel NEPM.
