Reducing emissions from wood heaters

On 13 December 2013, COAG replaced its 22 Standing Councils, Select Councils and governance fora with a set of eight Councils and the decision saw the revocation of the Standing Council on Environment and Water.

Information on this website is being updated to reflect these changes.

Public consultation

On 11 April 2013, the former Council of Australian Governments Standing Council on Environment and Water (Council) agreed to the release the consultation regulation impact statement for reducing emissions from wood heaters for public consultation.

Submissions

Submissions from interested parties on the consultation regulation impact statement closed on 15 July 2013. Fifty nine submissions were received with seven of these submissions marked “confidential”. Those submissions not marked “confidential” are now available online. Also provided below is a summary of the submissions received on the Consultation Regulation Impact Statement on wood heater emission reductions.

  • Submissions

All submissions are public documents unless clearly marked “confidential” and may be made available to other interested parties, including by being published on this website. In making a confidential submission, you should be aware that even where a submission is marked confidential, it may be requested under Commonwealth, State or Territory Freedom of Information legislation and that if such a request is made, some or all of the information contained in that submission may be released under the applicable legislation.

Council will generally publish the submissions it receives on this website (other than those marked confidential). It may, however, in its absolute discretion, decide not to publish or to publish an edited version of a submission where:

  • the submission contains personal information about an individual or individuals and the Council is concerned that the individual(s) are not aware of the use of their personal information and may object to the publication of it; or
  • the content may be considered defamatory, offensive or is otherwise of no benefit to the consultation process.

Public meetings

Public meetings were held to provide an overview of the consultation RIS and the process for making a submission.
