Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC) archive

EPHC was established in 2001 to ensure that governments work together with communities to achieve and enhance a healthy natural and cultural environment in harmony with social and economic goals. It replaced Australian and New Zealand Environment Conservation Council (ANZECC).

The Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC) remit was withdrawn by COAG upon the establishment of the Standing Council on Environment and Water in 2011.

Information previously available on the EPHC website is available in the EPHC archive.

Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC)

In 2001, the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) reshaped the ministerial council structure. As a result the Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council (ANZECC) ceased to exist with its environmental protection components being taken over by EPHC.

ANZECC documents relating to environmental protection matters released by ANZECC prior to the formation of EPHC are available in the ANZECC reports archive.
